The Surveillance Department of the National Institute of Health (NIH) Somalia leads the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of public health data to detect, monitor, and respond to diseases and other health threats. The department coordinates national disease surveillance systems, supports early warning and outbreak detection, and provides timely information to guide public health decision-making and emergency response.
Working closely with the Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Member States, laboratories, healthcare facilities, and international partners, the department strengthens integrated disease surveillance and enhances Somalia’s capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies.
