Public Health Research and Innovation
The Health Research Division of the National Institute of Health (NIH), Somalia is responsible for advancing high-quality health research that generates reliable scientific evidence to inform public health policies, programs, and decision-making.
The Division promotes and coordinates multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed research aligned with national health priorities, ensuring that research activities adhere to internationally recognized scientific and ethical standards. It leads the development, implementation, and dissemination of research policies, guidelines, and ethical frameworks, while strengthening national research capacity and fostering collaboration with academic institutions, government agencies, and development partners.
Through these efforts, the Division supports evidence-based policymaking and contributes to improving health outcomes and strengthening Somalia’s public health system.
